Joe English is a professional running and triathlon coach and a journalist who follows the sport of marathon running and triathlon. Joe coaches athletes, lectures on various aspects of the sport, and competes in racing events. He also takes thousands of photographs of runners each year at marathons around the world and has filmed a first-person documentary, following his path from start to finish at the Boston Marathon in 2008.

Joe is an expert marathon runner and triathlete and also runs ultra-marathons. He completed his first marathon more than twenty years ago — at age 17 — at the Portland Marathon in 1988. He has since completed more than 50 marathons; as well as cycling centuries, triathlons, duathlons, ultra-running events and an Ironman triathlon.

Living in Portland, Oregon, a great running city, Joe can often be found on the local trails, roads and running tracks doing research for articles and testing out new products.

Joe also writes the blog Running Advice and News, which is read by thousands of runners around the world everyday. Running Advice and News features coaching advice, running news, and commentary from Joe, Coach Dean Hebert and other guest writers from time-to-time.

He is a member of many running and triathlon organizations and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Portland Triathlon Club.
